New Loft Version (NLV)

Revolutionising the Design of Loft Conversions

Simplified Explanation of Innovative Loft Conversion Design

Making Loft Conversions Easier for Homes with Low Roofs.

Turning your loft into a usable room can be difficult, especially if your house has a low roof. Many homeowners run into problems with building rules and planning permission. Traditional methods often can't solve these issues, especially if you want to have a loft conversion with limited height or add height to your loft.

Our new design changes this. It lets homeowners create loft conversions even when the roof is quite low (as low as 1.4m, depending on the survey). Thanks to recent rule changes by the government, our approach is now even more helpful. It even helps homeowners keep the storage space that is often lost in regular loft conversions and have a full loft conversion.

One big advantage is that our system usually avoids the need to apply for planning permission. Instead of raising the roof ridge (which often requires planning), our design gets extra height without changing the ridge. For ridge heights of 1.8m or more, there’s no need to lower the ceiling on the floor below. This isn’t magic—it’s the result of over 35 years of experience in loft conversions and carpentry, combined with a specially registered design.

Key Features of the NLV Design

  • Works with Most Roofs: Our design fits almost all pitched roofs (except mono-pitched roofs), so more homeowners can use it.
  • Low Roofs Welcome: The system works even for roofs with very low ridges, starting at 1.4m (subject to survey).
  • Adaptable for Larger Spaces: For gable roofs up to 2.3m ridge height, homeowners can make the most of their permitted space without needing garden extensions.
  • Planning Permission Not Needed: Because we don’t raise the ridge, our method usually stays within permitted development rules, speeding up the process.
  • More Room, More Height: When adding a rear dormer, our design gives much more usable height at the back than typical methods, all while staying within the rules.
  • Flexible Licensing: The design’s license is linked to both your home and you as the homeowner, with options for ease of use, subject to our licencing agreement.

At the heart of our firm's ethos lies a drive to create meaningful partnerships—not just with homeowners, but also with the broad spectrum of professionals who play a vital role in the property and construction industries. We outline the compelling reasons and mutual benefits for engaging in collaborative efforts with LCS, highlighting not only the technical advantages of our innovative design but also the ripple effects of rewarding professional collaboration and our commitment to youth development and social responsibility.

The Vertical Elevation Loft Conversion: A Game Changer for Pitched Roofs

Our newly Registered: Design No. 6446746—Vertical Elevation Loft Conversion (“Design”)—marks a significant step forward in innovative solutions for homeowners with pitched roofs. Traditional loft conversions often present limitations in terms of usable space, headroom, and structural challenges, particularly in houses where the pitch angle is steep or where existing roof structures do not lend themselves to conventional dormer solutions.

Key Advantages of the Vertical Elevation Loft Conversion:

  • Maximised Usable Space: The design ingeniously reconfigures the loft area, leveraging vertical elevation to increase headroom and floor area, creating bright, spacious living environments without the need for extensive exterior modifications to the ridge.
  • Architectural Flexibility: Our system is adaptable to a wide variety of pitched roof configurations, allowing architects and contractors to address diverse client needs without the constraints imposed by older conversion methods.
  • Minimal Disruption: Installation processes have been streamlined for efficiency, reducing on-site disruption and facilitating a smoother transition for homeowners who remain in situ during works.
  • Sustainability: The design utilises high-performance materials and energy-efficient construction techniques, contributing to improved thermal insulation, lower utility bills, and a reduced carbon footprint.
  • Enhanced Property Value: Homeowners benefit from significant increases in property value and market appeal when utilising more of their usable permitted development rights, which in turn benefits estate agents and conveyancing professionals.

Architects

Architects are always seeking new and creative ways to maximise the potential of interior spaces while respecting external aesthetics and planning regulations. The Vertical Elevation Loft Conversion offers architects a unique selling point: a versatile design that can be incorporated into a broad spectrum of property types. By collaborating with LCS, architects can access technical support, early-stage design input, and joint marketing opportunities.

Contractors

For contractors, the efficiency and modularity of our design translates to smoother project timelines and reduced risk of delays due to unforeseen structural complications. As a preferred installation partner, contractors benefit from comprehensive training, priority allocation of projects, and the ability to offer homeowners the assurance of a patented, proven system.

Conveyancing Solicitors

Legal professionals play a vital role in the property transaction process. By being familiar with and recommending LCS’s loft conversion system, conveyancing solicitors can expedite due diligence, ensure compliance with building regulations, and provide their clients with reliable solutions that add long-term value to the property.

Estate Agents

Estate agents are always on the lookout for ways to boost property appeal and value. Properties enhanced by LCS’s Vertical Elevation Loft Conversion become more desirable, often attracting higher offers and faster sales. Agents benefit from exclusive marketing materials, case studies, and a transparent referral system that rewards them for successful introductions.

Merchants and FF&E Suppliers

Merchants and suppliers of fixtures, fittings, and equipment can expand their reach by becoming approved suppliers for our projects. We offer preferential procurement arrangements, access to a growing client base, and opportunities to showcase products in real-life installations.
