A Self-Sustaining Model for Construction

We donate 50% of the fees from our Licencing Agreement to future generations

A Self-Sustaining Model for Construction Training and Community Growth.

This initiative represents a novel approach to addressing the critical shortage of skilled labour in the UK’s construction industry, while also promoting home-grown talent and expanding opportunities for individuals to enter the trade. The driving question of “How is all this going to be funded?” and whether government involvement is required is central to understanding the sustainability and independence of the programme.

Independence from Direct Government Funding

This initiative is not dependent on direct financial support from the UK Government. The rationale is clear: the government already faces significant challenges in maintaining a positive economic environment, and adding further financial burdens is neither prudent nor necessary for the success of this project.

Utilising Government Policy for Opportunity

While not seeking government money, the initiative does leverage current government policy, specifically increased leniency for loft conversions. By taking advantage of relaxed planning restrictions, the programme can operate with fewer bureaucratic obstacles, facilitating more rapid and widespread adoption.

Self-Funding Through Loft Conversions

The core funding mechanism is uniquely self-sustaining. For every loft conversion that uses the proprietary design developed by the initiative, the financial remuneration from each homeowner’s licensing agreement is donated directly to fund the project.

This means that every participating homeowner contributes to the training and development of new construction professionals, creating a virtuous cycle of investment and skill-building within the community.

New Training Initiative for 17-24 Year Olds

Empowering Young Adults for Success in the Building Industry

Introduction

In today’s rapidly evolving employment landscape, young people face increasing challenges when it comes to accessing meaningful work experience and preparing for rewarding careers. Recognising both the hurdles and the boundless potential within the next generation, we are proud to introduce a dynamic Training Initiative tailored for individuals aged 17-24. This carefully structured programme is designed not merely to offer short-term placements, but to ignite lasting ambition, confidence, and employability—equipping participants with the tools & mentorship necessary for success in the building industry & beyond.

Programme Overview

Our Training Initiative is a three-week experience that invites individuals between the ages of 17 and 24 to work directly alongside our professional team. The programme is thoughtfully divided into distinct phases, each focusing on crucial skill sets relevant to the modern construction and property development sector:

Week 1: Sales Experience

  • Participants immerse themselves in the essentials of sales, honing communication, negotiation, and client engagement abilities.
  • Exposure to the commercial side of the industry, understanding the importance of building client relationships, and learning how to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Practical exercises include shadowing experienced staff, role-playing, and participating in real-life sales scenarios.

Week 2-4: On-Site Work Experience

  • Trainees join our on-site teams, experiencing first-hand the daily realities of construction projects.
  • Hands-on learning covers site safety, teamwork, time management, and the various trades involved.
  • The week fosters confidence and an appreciation for the collaborative nature of successful building projects.

Week 5: FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) Sourcing

  • This phase introduces trainees to the process of sourcing materials and completing project fit-outs.
  • Participants develop an understanding of procurement, supplier negotiation, budgeting, and quality assessment.
  • By week’s end, trainees are able to appreciate the full lifecycle of a construction project, from client acquisition to final finishing touches.
  • This immersive structure is meticulously crafted to provide not just skills but also a panoramic overview of the building industry, encouraging curiosity, drive, and a genuine interest in related career paths.

Benefits for Trainees

Our initiative is built around meaningful outcomes. Upon successful completion of the programme, each trainee will receive:

  • A Comprehensive CV Entry: We prepare a detailed résumé section highlighting all tasks, achievements, and skills acquired during the training, giving each participant a competitive edge when applying for future roles.
  • Green CSCS Card Sponsorship: We cover the full cost of obtaining the Green Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. This essential qualification enables trainees to access and work safely on any building site across the UK—residential or commercial—opening the door to vital self-employment opportunities.
  • Agency Registration and Ongoing Mentorship: We register trainees with established construction agencies, expanding their access to job opportunities. In addition, our mentorship continues beyond the programme, ensuring ongoing guidance and support.
  • Further Training and Career Progression: For those with ambition to go further, we offer pathways to advanced training, self-employment opportunities, and apprenticeships within our organisation. This ensures that motivated individuals can continue their professional journey without limits.

The financial prospects are significant: with the right skills and certification, trainees can expect to earn between £80 and £150 per day as Site Labourers—a level of independence that empowers them to build a future free from reliance on government' financial assistance.

Our Mentorship Approach

A central pillar of our initiative is the role of mentorship. We are committed to supporting our trainees not only during their three-week placement, but as they move forward in their careers. This includes:

  • Addressing Workplace Challenges: We remain available to advise and intervene should trainees encounter mistreatment or unfair practices on other sites. Our commitment is to uphold their rights, safety, and well-being.
  • Professional Development: Our mentors help trainees identify their strengths, navigate the complexities of the industry, and set realistic yet ambitious career goals.
  • Network Building: We facilitate introductions and connections with like-minded professionals, nurturing a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among former trainees
  • Ultimately, this mentorship creates a support system that helps young people overcome barriers, learn from experience, and thrive in the workplace.

Long-Term Impact and Vision

Our vision is rooted in empowerment. By providing structured training and accredited qualifications, we foster the conditions for sustained personal and professional growth. Trainees leave the programme equipped not only with technical proficiency, but with the confidence and connections to carve out their own career path—whether within the construction sector or via further education.

This initiative also addresses wider social and economic goals:

  • Reducing Youth Unemployment: By bridging the gap between education and meaningful work experience, we help young people transition into the workforce faster and with more confidence.
  • Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: Our intake is inclusive, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds and ensuring that the industry becomes more representative of the communities it serves.
  • Building Future Leaders: Today’s trainees are tomorrow’s site managers, business owners, and mentors. By nurturing practical skills and leadership qualities, we are investing in the future strength of the industry.

Programme Requirements and How to Apply

Participation is open to all individuals aged 17 to 24 with a genuine interest in construction, property development, or related fields. No previous experience is required—only a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a commitment to the full three-week programme.

To apply, prospective trainees should submit a short statement of interest and attend an informal interview to determine suitability and discuss personal goals. We value enthusiasm above all else and are eager to welcome diverse perspectives.

With the right training, positive mentorship, and accredited qualifications, young adults can look to the future—not with uncertainty, but with hope and ambition. Our Training Initiative for 17-24 year olds provides the foundation upon which they can build fulfilling careers, contribute meaningfully to the industry, and inspire others in turn. We stand ready as mentors, advocates, and partners—committed to empowering the next generation to seize every opportunity before them.

Implementation and Training Structure

Trainee Placement and Oversight

Each loft conversion undertaken as part of the initiative will have a trainee assigned to the project. This provides practical, hands-on learning experiences, essential for developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

The homeowner’s role extends beyond mere participation: they are responsible for overseeing the welfare of the trainee and ensuring that the chosen contractor provides adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and on-the-job training throughout the project.

Encouraging Apprenticeships and Industry Approval

Contractors who demonstrate exceptional support and training for trainees—and who subsequently offer them apprenticeships—will receive the distinction of being appointed as approved fitters of the new loft conversion design.

Only contractors with this special approval will be permitted to install the proprietary design, ensuring high standards and incentivising investment in training.

Similarly, only architects, surveyors, and builders merchants who have been vetted and approved by the initiative will be associated with its designs, creating a network of trusted professionals.

Combating Skills Shortages and Reducing Reliance on Foreign Labour

This “introduction into construction” is a wholly independent programme, designed to address the declining number of skilled tradespeople in the UK.

By channelling investment into home-grown talent, the initiative aims to reduce reliance on foreign labour, ensuring that the UK’s housing and construction needs can be met domestically.

The outcome is not just more houses built, but also the generation of valuable skills, enhanced employment opportunities, and increased income for both trainees and the broader community.

Summary

In summary, this initiative is funded through an innovative, self-perpetuating model that leverages homeowner participation and proprietary licensing agreements, rather than direct government subsidy.

By embedding trainee development into every project and aligning approval with demonstrated support for apprenticeships, the programme aims to nurture a new generation of construction professionals, foster community growth, and revitalise the UK’s trade industries—entirely on its own terms.
